The Velozzi

Unlike the rest of the cars on this list, this car is a hybrid rather than a full electric vehicle. The car is being created by Team Velozzi to compete in the 2009 automotive X-Prize, a competition to find a super fuel-efficient vehicle that is environmentally friendly, desirable, and marketable. The Velozzi is certainly all those, at least for me. The car boasts a top speed of 200 mph and goes 0-60 in under three seconds. It gets better. The hybrid’s gas tanks can be fuelled with almost anything, including gas, biodiesel, methanol, or pretty much any of your normal alternative fuels. The design is top notch as well. The Velozzi is an Italian car, and its designers took some of their design from the classic Italian sports cars. If you look closely, you can see a bit of Lamborghini in it.

MDI develops 'The Air Car'

While automakers from all around the globe are trying to fancy what can be a truly fuel less car, MDI has introduced a car that runs on air.
No I am not kidding with you but according to the developers the car is completely pollution free and runs on compressed air. The pressure inside the tank is a staggering 300 bar.
A single tank of compressed air will be enough to run the car for 4500 kilometers and the car has a top speed of 110 Kmph that’s not bad if you consider that all you need for fuel is nothing but air...!

MIT Media Lab foresees stackable, foldable 'City Car'

A team of researchers at the MIT’s media lab are busy developing a prototype of lightweight stackable electric cars that could help overcome the congestion problem. The prototype vehicle dubbed the City Car could be folded and stacked at central sites.
The City Car will be powered by a robotic drive system transformed from the lowly wheel. Each wheel will integrate an electric motor, steering and braking machinery, suspension, and digital controls. All these would be merged into sealed entities that could be snapped on and off.
The City Car will start at the mere press of a button and will boast a handlebar instead of a steering wheel. Lightweight material like Kevlar or carbon fiber will make the body of the car. The notion of the City Car was devised as part of a strategy for plummeting carbon emissions

Tesla Roadster: Red and Green

One look at this baby and I am sold! Red never looked hotter and greener!
The Tesla Roadster is an all sleek, all American, 100% electric car that does 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 sec! Needless to say, it has won every award since its debut including the cleanest startup award for 2007 from TechCrunch !
The Torque curves of Roadster are, of course, stellar. They are promising peak torque even at 0 RPM! So, no auto gear changes and high energy efficiency even for the highest acceleration possible !! Apparently, it is alarmingly quiet for the kind of acceleration and power it provides ! That is amazing!!
You know what else is cool ? Its carbon foot print ! It is all electric so you only need to look got your state board’s carbon chart to worry about . I found out from his blog that the CEO of Tesla powers his home off of a solar panel grid !
The looks are a killer and the price is north of 100G but, given its startup mode, it has been sold out every year so far!! That truly speaks for how cool this car is !
A 5000 USD refundable deposit starts the process and locks in price. An additional 50 grand would lock in your delivery date as well.

Audi TT 2007

Apparently, Audi just couldn't wait. The German automaker was all set to lift the veil on its next-generation TT at the New York International Auto Show, next week. But Audi decided not to wait for the New York show, a lightly attended event for the European press, and unveiled the car in Berlin on Thursday. It's been six years since Audi introduced the original TT, a car that did a lot to buff up the automaker's sporty image. For the new version Audi increased both the car's overall length and width. It now measures 165 inches nose to tail, and 72.4 inches door to door, up five and three inches respectively. The 2007 TT gets a sharp sheetmetal makeover, which removes the Deco lines and replaces them with bolder forms that hint at the Nissan 350Z, which was itself inspired by the original TT, according to its designer Ajay Panchal. For the new TT, Audi combined aluminum and steel for a new body structure. Audi claims optimal weight distribution, but also adds a pop-up rear spoiler that deploys above 75 mph.Audi will offer the next-generation TT with two engines: a turbocharged, direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 200 hp. This model accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds, Audi says, and reaches a top speed of 149 mph. The other powertrain is a 250-hp 3.2-liter V-6 that sprints to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155 mph. Both engines are mated to a six-speed stick shift or can be combined with an S-tronic (sequential manual) transmission using Audi's slick double-clutch system. The 2.0-liter TT has front-wheel drive; the V-6 is a quattro.A new rear suspension and other improvements, combined with a wider thread and larger wheels, are aimed at improving handling. Later in the year, Audi will add an adaptive suspension system. The new TT will be equipped with automatic climate control and an upgraded audio system. Adaptive lighting/corner lighting and a reverse-parking system is optional. The new TT Coupe will be available at the end of summer and will be joined by a Roadster in 2007.

Audi Avus Quattro

The Audi Avus Quattro was a supercar-styled concept car from the German car manufacturer, Audi. It was first introduced at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show. The Avus Quattro had an aluminum exterior, which made it a lightweight, sleek and safer automobile. The Avus Quattro’s engine was supposed to be a 6.0 L 60-valve 12-cylinder engine producing 509 hp (380 kW), capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in about 3 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). The exact car shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, however, had a dummy made of carefully painted wood and plastic for an engine because at the time, such a powertrain was still in development; Audi-made W12 engines were not available to buyers until Audi presented its flagship A8 a few years later.

Mercedes SLK

The SLK got even better with thanks to new styling which takes cues from the bigger SL and the McLaren SLR. Stunning looks, Mercedes build quality and that metal folding hard top guarantee success for the little Merc, despite growing competition from cheaper convertible coupes, and the increasing performance of cars like the Porsche Boxster.

Väth V63RS Clubsport: A 585-hp Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

If the 730-hp BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW doesn’t appeal to you much (and we don’t know why it wouldn’t), tuner Väth has revealed their latest creation based on the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG. Looks wise, Väth didn’t mess around much with the already aggressive appearance of the C 63. The tuner did however add a new front lip spoiler, a more muscular rear diffuser, a new rear-spoiler and 19-inch black alloy wheels.
In terms of performance, Väth recalibrated the ECU, a new free flowing exhaust manifold, a stainless steel sports exhaust, bigger brake rotors and a new sports suspension. As a result, horsepower of the 6.3L V8 increased to 585-hp (from 457) with a peak torque of 509 lb-ft. Top speed has been increased to 202mph.
With a couple of interior upgrades including new sport seats, a new instrument panel, a TV/DVD unit, pricing for the V63RS Clubsport starts at EUR 125,000 ($191,899 USD).

Brabus Tuned Mercedes SLR McLaren

Brabus are famed for their exceptional ability to perfectly tune Mercedes’ cars and they have attempted the impossible, to improve an already perfect car, the Mercedes SLR McLaren. The car features many upgrades but most prominently upgraded is the engine whose power is upgraded to 660 hp allowing it to get to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds. Brabus also modified the aerodynamics of the car making it stick better to the road. The wheels are also different making it stand out even more than the original SLR. The interior is also modified with the upholstery of the seats is changed to a finer black and red combination of Alcantara leather. The floor of the car is stitched with 7.8 kilometers of fine thread. Also a custom ergonomically shaped Brabus sport steering wheel is used which integrates the cars transmission into the grip of the wheel. The interior also features carbon fiber finishing to match the material used by the chassis.

2008 BMW M3 Sedan Becomes Official

The 2008 BMW M3 Sedan has been officially "released" by BMW. With it, comes an end to the rumors of whether or not BMW was actually going to release it with this new chassis. Having not released a sedan version of the E46 M3, few believed they would be releasing it on this new E90 chassis. Well, they are, and in 2008, the same year the coupe version is to be released.

Concept CS - the new BMW prototype

Here's the new BMW proposal, also known as the CS Four Door Luxury GT. The German brand doesn't disappoint and presents us a large and luxurious car - 5,10 metres long, four doors and back-wheel traction. In the motor compartment, a V12 of 6 000cc and great power secures the necessary high performances. On the exterior, and aggressive design and a sporty look, Chris Bangle's trademark, make this vehicle irresistable. None of this would be out of the ordinary, weren't it for the fact that it is destined to the Chinese market. It wasn't by coincidence that it was presented at Shanghai...

Whew: Olafur Eliasson's Art Car For BMW

It had sparked one of those jump-the-shark anxiety attacks when I heard that one of the artists I most admire, Olafur Eliasson, had been commissioned to do an Art Car for BMW.
Even as it included such respected artists as Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Jenny Holzer, BMW's Art Car series has always epitomized the superficial lameness of corporate co-optation of artistic practice.
For someone as serious and critically engaged as Olafur to decorate a BMW--and not just any BMW, but a hydrogen-powered PR-mobile, the H2R, the promotion of which would only deflect attention from the German auto industry's complicity in global climate change and their aggressive efforts to thwart greenhouse gas emissions cuts--well, I was worried. And the BMW press release didn't help
But then I read an account of a speech Olafur just gave at the NAI in Rotterdam, where he talked about the car: "‘They are increasingly unhappy about it’, he says about his commissioner. But it is about the relation between the automotive industry and global warming."

2007 BMW 335i Coupe

This car was originally a euro delivery car to the first owner and we purchased it 6 months later after they had broken it in This car has plenty of room for our family and equipped with the sport package seats/suspension and N54 inline 6 cylinder twin turbo motor, is a lot of fun when we head to the mountains.

2012 BMW M6

The next generation BMW M6 is not due to be released until around 2012, but this doesn't stop us speculating on how the next M6 might look like. One of our dear and talented readers, Giom, has created some 3D preview images of what the BMW M6's design could turn out. The renderings show us a sexy and sleek design, with the rendered M6 sporting some 21" wheels and rear headlights similar to the BMW CS Concept.
From the tiny bitty piece of information that came to to us a few months ago from BMW, we learned that the next generation M6, codenamed F12, might be sold in two different models: a regular M6 and a CSL M6. There will be also a debate on whether the next M6 should have a glass roof or the Carbon Fiber roof.
Of course, we're still a little too early to know exactly what BMW has planned for us, so in the mean time, let's focus on Giom's renderings and hear your opinion on them.
Personally, I think the 3D images are great, I'm in love with the rear design, but I would love to see how the imaginary front end might look like. Oh, there is one thing I'm not sure if I dig: the bulge on the hood.

Ferrari 288 GTO

BackgroundThe Ferrari GTO was built to compete in the new Group B Race series and a minimum of 200 cars were required for homologation. However as only Ferrari and Porsche, with their 959, entered, the series was soon abandoned leaving just the Group B Rally championship. The Porsche 959 {961} only raced three times in Group B, but the 288 GTO never raced and all 272 cars built remained purely road cars.EngineThe GTO was based on the mid-engined, rear wheel drive 308 GTB. The 288 refers to its 2.8 liter V8 engine, though, as it used a de-bored (by 1 mm) V8 with twin IHI turbochargers, intercoolers, and Weber-Marelli fuel injection. The 2855 cc engine capacity was dictated by the FIA’s requirement for a Turbocharged engine’s capacity to be multiplied by 1.4. This gave the GTO a theoretical engine capacity of 3997 cc, just under the Group B limit of 4.0 litres.

2006 Ferrari 599 GTB

With the release of the 599 GTB Ferrari is presenting its most powerful V12-engined production car of all time.Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari's Vice General Manager will announce today at the Detroit Motor Show the birth of the latest model developed in Maranello. The new car is a concentration of Ferrari's most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a mid-front engined two-seater coupé. The result is a new benchmark for performance, driver involvement and design. The Ferrari 599 GTB boasts class-leading power thanks to its 5,999cc V12 - derived directly from the Enzo Ferrari supercar - which produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower.Ferrari has adopted the latest evolution in its tried and tested all-aluminium construction technology for the body and chassis. The unmistakable Pininfarina design gives the Ferrari 559 GTB aggressive yet elegant lines which are perfectly integrated with the advanced aerodynamic solutions adopted to reach the performance figures attainable. This new model is the symbol of Ferrari's production - the V12 Berlinetta - and represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, and the 365 GTB4.The Ferrari 599 GTB replaces the last in that great line of berlinettas, the 575M Maranello, of which - together with the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996 - no fewer than 5,700 have been produced, a record for this type of model for the Prancing Horse. The new car will be officially unveiled on the 28th of February 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show.

2005 Ferrari F430

Ferrari F430 specs Top Speed: 196 mph / 315 kph0-60 mph: 4 secondsEngine: DOHC 5 / cylinder 4.3 liter V-8Ferrari F430 supercar is a successor to the older (and slightly overrated) sports car 360 Modena. It features an all-new engine that does not share any components with the 360 Modena’s engine. F430's 90-degree engine design derived directly from designs used in the Ferrari's Formula 1 engines. In fact, car name F430 came from its 4308 cc mid-engine which can produce 490 hp (an astonishing 114 hp per liter).F430 supercar comes in two versions: a Coupe and an open top Spider, the latter being approx. $20,000 more expensive.

Ferrari 599GTB

As we reported earlier today in our coverage of Ferrari's press conference, the new Ferrari slated to replace the 575M Maranello will be called the 599 GTB, and not the F600 Imola as previously rumored. The latest in the famous line of Grand Touring Berlinettas, the 599 is named after the 5,999 cc V12 engine, which it inherits from the Ferrari Enzo supercar. With 620 hp available to motivate the two-seater coupe, performance should be more than adequate.Penned by Pininfarina, the 599 GTB is reminiscent of the 612 Scaglietti, and owes much to Pininfarina's Ferrari Rossa concept.

2008 Ferrari F430 Scuderia Pictures

The 2008 Ferrari F430 Scuderia made its American premiere at the 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show and did not disappoint the crowds. The F430 Scuderia (on sale in Spring ‘08) incorporates F1 technology and produces 510hp from the 4.3-liter V8 engine. Also noteworthy: A 0-60 time in 3.7 seconds. With some redesigning, Ferrari managed to reduce resistance and increase downforces without increasing the drag.
Even if the F430 Scuderia is a little out of your price range, you can still drool over it thanks to our video coverage

Ferrari Building a Smaller, Lighter, Quicker Enzo

The go-fast gurus at Ferrari are working on a successor to the jaw-dropping Enzo that could be the lightest, quickest two-seater ever to roll out of Maranello.
We told you months ago the Scuderia's next supercar would be based on the Millechili concept that embraces the "less is more" ethos. Ferrari sees lighter cars as the best way to reach its goal of increasing fuel economy 40 percent and reducing emissions 25 percent without compromising its reputation for performance. The Millechili is a guidepost to that greener future.
The future arrives in two years in a 600-horsepower car that weighs 2,200 pounds.
According to Car and Driver, Ferrari will introduce the as-yet-unnamed supercar in 2010. C&D says it won't be called the Millechili -- but it will look a lot like the styling concept (pictured) Ferrari showed off last year.
The car will have an aluminum space frame similar to the F430 Scuderia but stretched to a wheelbase of 104.3 inches and fitted with a V10 engine. That's a break from Ferrari's tradition of putting V8s or V12s in its road cars, but Ferrari won five consecutive Formula 1 championships with its V10s, so the engine undoubtedly will be a corker. The only thing sweeter than the car's engine is its weight. Millechili is Italian for 1,000 kilos, and that's just what the car will weigh. Not only is that 660 pounds lighter than the Enzo, it's 200 pounds lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata and only 216 pounds heavier than the Lotus Elise. The Enzo accelerated from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.65 seconds and had a claimed top speed of 225 mph, so it's safe to say the Millechili will be very quick. It'll certainly have one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any car on the road, coming in behind the Caparo T1 and SSC Ultimate Aero but ahead of the Saleen S7 and Bugatti Veyron. Active suspension will adjust the ride height for maximum aerodynamic efficiency and handling.
That kind of performance doesn't come cheap. If you want one of the 300 or so cars Maranello plans to build, be ready to lay out half a million dollars.

2002 Ferrari Enzo

Ferrari Enzo specificationsTop Speed: 362 km/hPower: 660 HPEngine: V12 6.0 litreThe legendary Ferrari Enzo was named in the name of the racing car company founder Enzo Ferrari. The front section of this Ferrari supercar has derived directly from Formula 1, the entire body shape was tweaked for optimal airflow and cooling of the engine and the brakes. It is equipped with an ultra-light, 6.0-litre V-12 engine, that is capable of producing 110 bhp per litre of gas. Ferrari has promised to come out with a new version of a supercar based on the Enzo every four years. It is really interesting to see what kind of improvements can be made on such supercar, which is already nearly perfect.

Most expensive vintage car ever sells for $11 million

A Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder once owned by U.S. actor James Coburn fetched nearly $11 million (5.6 million pounds) at auction, making it the most valuable vintage car ever sold under the hammer, organisers said on Monday.
The rare black convertible was one of 33 cars and scores of Ferrari memorabilia sold at auction on Sunday in the luxury sports carmaker’s hometown of Maranello in northern Italy.
The 7 million euro price paid by British radio and television host Chris Evans eclipsed previous records for cars sold under auction, organisers RM Auctions said.“It’s a very rare Ferrari, one of just 56 built,” said spokesman Terrence Lobzun. “It’s a very desirable car, probably one of the most desirable Ferraris ever built as far as style and design are concerned.”

2006 BMW 130i Auto Show Photo

It's a shame BMW decided against offering the 1 Series in the United States. A compact, affordable BMW has even greater appeal today, as young drivers openly aspire to drive luxury-branded vehicles. With gas prices finally outpacing drinking water, compacts may have growing appeal, especially if they boast more than 260 horsepower, like the new 130i. Sized much like a Mazda3 five-door, the range-topping 130i boasts a 3.0L inline six with 232 lb-ft of torque, capable of delivering a 6.2-second 0-60-mph time. An available M Sports Package can make this hot hatch even better, with a sport-tuned suspension and M aero package, boasting distinct front and rear fascias, and body-colored side sills. The interior is dressed with leather and all the obligatory M cues, from door sills to stitching. If the Audi A3 is the success it deserves to be Stateside, rest assured that BMW will take notice.

2007 BMW X5

BMW's X5 line has needed an overhaul for a while now, and it got one for 2007. The all-new 2007 BMW X5 ($TBA) features more interior room with a third row of seating, a new inline six-cylinder engine that makes 260hp — an even more powerful 350hp, 4.8L V8 is also an option — enhanced x-Drive all-wheel drive, 50/50 weight distribution, and more tech-oriented options than ever before, including standard run-flat tires, the BMW Assist Bluetooth system, an iDrive on-board control system, heads-up display, rear-view camera for parking, and a premium sound system that features 600 watts of power, Dolby 5.1 surround sound and 16 speakers. One of the most elegant, complete SUVs on the road just got a whole lot better.

BMW Concept X6 at Frankfurt Motorshow

BWM finally showed off its two-mode hybrid system (the first BMW with two-mode hybrid system) at Frankfurt Motorshow, the idea behind this concept car is “merging the athletic aesthetics of a true sports car with the versatility of an SAV resulted in a new vehicle category that so far has not been realised” as stated on the bmw website. Quoted from Chris Bangle as Chief of Design for BMW Group about bmw concept x6 : “a good concept realizes itself in a short amount of time”. There is no official technical statement from BMW about this BMW X6, but the hybrid system expected to improve fuel efficiency by 20 percent. This car was only a concept till now, I believe this is going to be the basic of the next model bmw car.

M-Zero, Inspired by BMW M Series

M-Zero is a car concept inspired by BMW M series which also consider Mercedes Benz (as the backlight) and DB9 Aston Martin (the global silhouette of is definitely inspired by the DB9). Maël Oberkampf, the designer of M-Zero actually tried to make a model which could be considered as the equivalent of the R8 from Audi. And the result is M-Zero, a car concept that is the “synthesis” between the actual BMW design and a high an performance car which could become the most powerful model of the BMW legacy. The exterior looks great, very BMW style, but we are hoping to be able to see the interior design, we bet it’s futuristic

BMW M1 Homage Car Concept Revealed !

The new BMW M1 car is very similar to the BMW range. The sporty look of the car is described by slatted alloy wheels; twin BMW badges on the top of the taillights a louvered bonnet and a rear mirror. This car is designed for all those who want to make a mark in the society and want to be on the fingers of the people around them. This car looks the best in red as it gives the fantastic car a blazy and a fiery look. Looking from the back, the view is absolutely thrilling; blade like extension of the back glass says it all. The wheels get a steel finish and make the car look ever better.
The shape of the rear-view mirror is extra ordinary with sharp edges giving a fiery and a dazzling look. The black glass of the windows is extended back wards giving the car a feeling that it is moving at a high speed. The turbo wheels support the mid-engine. The BMW M1 is the first mid engined car by BMW.

Preview: 2010 BMW 5-series revealed

Could this really be the new 5-series? According to the article below, this model will be available in 2010.
When you think of luxury executive saloons, one car always comes to mind, the BMW 5-series. A class leader since its inception, the 5-series remains a crucial car to BMW. With the current E60 5-series introduced back in 2004, BMW is preparing the sixth-generation model to be revealed in 2010. It will be a tough job for the designers as well as the thousands of engineers working across BMW’s development centers to renew the current model, a car that already resides at the edge of the technical front line.
The new design is critical for BMW’s design manager Adrian van Hooydonk and his team, who have to create an exterior that radiates the brand’s distinctive design values and at the same time feels new and fresh. Using information from various sources, these renderings were compiled by our partners over at Sweden’s Auto Motor and Sport and their illustrator Radovan Varicak, giving us a preview of what the final version will look like.
The front-end will likely feature a more upright kidney grille in order to comply with stronger pedestrian protection laws, while the headlights won’t be stretched out like on the current model. BMW’s characteristic interaction between convex and concave shapes will still be emphasized, and will be clearly indicated in the engine hood’s lines.
The rear roofline and C-pillar connects more fluidly to the trunk lid, which is now devoid of the Bangle-butt that was so universally derided with the E60 model. Parts of the tail-lights continue onto the trunk lid in order to strengthen the impression of width. We must say, this design is very pleasing and if BMW’s car looks anything like this, we sure it’ll lure back any customers loss to its rivals because of the controversial styling of the former E60.

Geneva 09' Preview: BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo Unveiled

BMW is out to create another vehicle that no one has yet to ask for with its 5 Series Gran Turismo Concept, which BMW refers to as a Progressive Activity Sedan.
The concept is neither a sedan, wagon or SUV, instead its a combination of all three vehicles. It's overall shape is similar to the X6, but with a lower ride height. One interesting feature is the two-piece double-jointed tailgate. Just like the X6, the Concept only has room for 4 passengers.
Just like past BMW's concepts, the production model is expected to be very close to what we see here and is expected to be released sometime in 2010.
